Traditional Wet Felted Boots

$300.00

Each pair is 100% crafted by hand. Made from 100% pure wool. Art Inspired by Nature.

This pair features black alpaca and Romney wool. A beautiful light yet very warm blend.
Size medium (Mens 9)
*Ghillie leather sole included* (last picture for reference).

These boots are formed without any stitching or seams, using only warm water, soap, and pressure to fuse the fibres together into a dense fabric. This wet felting technique is the oldest known method of forming textiles. Long before weaving or knitting, early cultures relied on wet felting to produce durable, warm clothing for survival in harsh climates.

Their design draws inspiration from traditional valenki — the beloved felt boots that have kept generations warm through brutal Russian and Siberian winters.

The warm, wet felted boots are accompanied by a traditionally made ghillie leather sole.
Ghillies come from Scotland and Ireland, going way back into medieval times. Originally, they were worn by hunters and gamekeepers who needed practical footwear for wet, boggy landscapes.

They Feature:
* Soft leather construction.
* No stiff sole— more of a "foot glove" for quiet walking, and great for people who want to be grounded.
* Long laces to secure the shoe tightly; the crisscrossing helps with fit and mobility.
* No tongue allows faster drying and keeps debris from getting trapped.

Perfect for the Nature Lover and Collector of Handcrafted Art
